Difference Between Derived and Fundamental Quantities

Physical quantities are divided into,

* Fundamental quantities
* Derived quantities

These are explained below with their differences:

 Fundamental quantities are quantities which cannot be expressed in terms of any other physical quantity.They are independent of one another. Eg: length, mass, time, temperature,etc.,

 Derived quantities are quantities that can be expressed in terms of fundamental quantities. These quantities depends on Fundamental quantities. Eg: Area, volume, density etc.,

Measurement

Physics is an art of science which deals with the study of matter and energy, governed by certain basic laws. These laws are explained in terms of physical quantities like length, mass,time ,density, volume etc. Measurement is derived from the word 'mesurement' meaning assignment of numbers to objects or events. The science of pure measurement is called metrology.

Why Phy6???

Physics is the science of everything. It is the ancient,endless quest to understand the fundamental processes of  reality itself, at every level from the subatomic to the macrocosmic.Physics is very important to understand the world around us, the world inside us, and the world beyond us. It is the most basic and fundamental science. Physics encompasses the study of the universe from the largest galaxies to the smallest subatomic particles. Moreover, it's the basis of many other sciences, including chemistry, oceanography, seismology, and astronomy.The depth and reach of physics support developments in every field of scientific endeavour: medical breakthroughs, technological innovation, startling advancements in manufacturing, materials, communications, energy, environmental protection and much more. It informs and refines our understanding of existence, and our place within it, constantly opening up new views of possibility for the human community and for individual lives.
The importance of physics isn't limited to the "hard sciences." Increasingly, physicists are turning their talents to molecular biology, biochemistry, and biology itself. Physics also developed many new technologies such as Cell phones, the Internet that have revolutionized our world. A physics education equips a person to work in many different and interesting places: in industrial and government labs, on college campuses, in the astronaut corps,etc.,

What Is Phy6???

Physics is the branch of science which involves the study of nature. The word 'physics' is derived from the greek word 'physis' meaning nature. It involves the study of matter,energy and the interaction between them. Otherwise, it can be stated as ''The branch of science which involves the study of matter and their motion with respect to space and time along with its energy and force''. Physics is the general analysis of nature, conducted in order to understand how the world and universe behave. Understanding of physics which is always the combination of hands on practical work and related theoretical study which provides the interest to the physical world .
